In a series of 52 normal myopic eyes in patients 18 to 35 years old, both spherical-like aberration (S4) and spherical aberration (C04) significantly reduced visual acuity at low contrast sensitivity levels, suggesting that less spherical aberration might improve visual function under mesopic conditions.
